Job Description:
Marketing Communications Copywriter
As our Marketing Communications Copywriter, you’ll be responsible for building authentic conversations with engaging and innovative content across various digital and print platforms.
You’re a solid copywriter, well versed in trending styles, and creativity is in your DNA. You have a keen sense of emotional storytelling. Using your strengths in relevant and high-impact digital content authoring, you’re obsessively compelled to drive engagement.
You’re someone who is resilient, open to collaboration and has a solid understanding of digital content marketing best practices.
What will you do?
- Craft written content that influences audiences across different media, including targeted email, newsletters, web copy, social content, video and more.
- Develop and implement communications plans and strategies, driving strategic messages to key audiences.
- Execute promotional and business writing projects including editing and managing the approval process for print and digital tactics
- Help optimize marketing performance through analysis of user behaviours to increase conversions
- Identify new content opportunities, develop and source content, coordinate and align activities to deliver a cohesive and compelling story across channels.
- Help optimize marketing efforts with segmentation, personalized digital tactics that nurture and engage target audiences.
- Maintain a strong understanding of digital tactics and algorithms to execute online marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with creative and account teams through all stages of projects to ensure an effective, polished final product.
- Champion advisor- and client-oriented marketing approaches; consult with key business partners and recommend the appropriate approaches and vehicles to achieve business and marketing objectives

- Copywriting – demonstrated creativity and solid understanding of marketing principles to create engaging copy that influences audiences.
- Digital marketing – experience in delivering digital marketing programs.
- Campaign execution – demonstrated experience in managing performance-based digital marketing campaigns.
- Analytical mindset – ability to draw insights from data to inform future work.
- Organizational skills – proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliver against required timelines and budget.
- Relationship management – proven ability to build and cultivate strong relationships with internal/external stakeholders up, down and across the organization.
- Business curiosity – comfort seeking new approaches to solving business problems and challenging the status quo.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal), with superb attention to detail in reviewing marketing and communication materials.
- Creative thinker.
- Adaptability – ability to embrace change and adapt to constantly evolving business priorities
- Independence and collaboration – ability to work independently and closely with other team members across the organization
What’s required?
- Post-secondary education in marketing, journalism or communication-related field or relevant work experience
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in marketing roles with writing experience
- Experience writing and managing marketing campaigns
- Understanding of social media and advertising, and how they support other digital marketing efforts
- Sound understanding of the principles of digital marketing compliance such as CASL and AODA
- Bilingualism (French, English) required in QC – immediate manager is a unilingual Anglophone
What’s nice to have?
- Previous experience working in financial services
- An understanding of behavioural economics principles
- Knowledge of Wrike, Sharepoint and Adobe is an asset
- Knowledge of Canadian Press style

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
