Vice President Kamala Harris visits local business SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – During her trip to Savannah, Vice President (VP) Kamala Harris made a visit to a local business on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard. It’s a day the owner here tells WTOC he’ll never forget, as he walked the Vice President through the doors and into the store he’s owned for 22 years. Richard Shinhoster says it was an honor to be able to host the Vice President, along with Mayor Van Johnson, and other members of the Savannah community here in his store. He says he and the VP talked about how the Biden-Harris administration is making efforts to try to help small, minority business owners. A topic Shinhoster says hits close to home for him. After that discussion, he says he’s hopeful to see what the future holds. “There is someone at that level who is willing to hear what the needs are and then proposing policies and procedures and funding sources that will help,” said Shinhoster. Shinhoster says he’s looking forward to hopefully seeing an impact on small, minority business owners across the country. Copyright 2024 WTOC. All rights reserved.
