It might be called “small business” but it is no small feat. Owning and operating a business takes a lot of heart, passion, sacrifice, and work. We wanted to take just a moment to share a few helpful reminders on how to support your local businesses.
Shop Local, Shop Small
This might be the most obvious, but if you have the opportunity to shop local, do it! Keep those mom and pop shops top of mind when looking for household supplies, your next cup of coffee, houseplants, cocktails, services, vegetables, and more.
Word of Mouth
Talk about your favorite local places. Share your experiences with your family and friends, spread the love.
Digital Love
We are so connected in the digital world, that it is easy to share a great experience online. Leave a 5 star review on Google, post a product spotlight on Facebook, share a story inside their store, and tag them. Advertising can be expensive, sometimes it just takes a few posts on social media for new customers.
Don’t forget to interact with them on social. Comment on their posts and more people will see it!
Say No Thank You to Discounts
They love us. They want to offer us friends and family discounts because they are awesome. If you have the means, offer to pay full price. We might be friends but that just means we should pay what we know they are worth!
Purchase Gift Cards
Not ready to make a purchase? Buy a gift card! Lots of places offer gift cards online or by phone. Put money in their pocket now for expenses – shop later!
Reach Out
Since we are talking locally owned, you are most likely able to talk to the owner pretty easily. Say hello in store or send them a Facebook message – ask what you can do to help their small business. Sometimes it’s best to hear straight from the source.
