Laurens County Chamber of Commerce Launches Small Business emPOWERment Program (SBP) to Boost Local Entrepreneurship

The Laurens County Chamber of Commerce announces the launch of the Small Business emPOWERment Program (SBP). This eight-month program is designed to support local entrepreneurs and small business owners.  This Chamber initiative is made possible by the support of the Laurens County American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated to the Chamber from Laurens County Council in May 2022.

The SBP is an intensive program that will provide participants with the education, coaching, and connections necessary to identify their key business needs and improve their operations for future sustainability. Participants will have monthly meetings featuring topic-specific speakers who will guide educate and work with participants through a large variety of beneficial topics, such as financial management, marketing, sales, and human resources.

“Our goal with the Small Business emPOWERment Program is to give local entrepreneurs and small business owners the tools they need to succeed,” said Amanda Munyan, President/CEO of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. “By providing education, coaching, and connections, we hope to empower businesses to grow, create jobs, and contribute to the economic development and unique character of our County.”

The Small Business emPOWERment Program (SBP) will offer many benefits to participants, throughout the completion of the program.  Each business owner, completing the program requirements, will receive a free year of Chamber membership for January through December 2024 (current members will receive a voucher to use towards their membership renewal on their anniversary).  The businesses will be considered a Premier “Think Local” business, further promoting their organization within the community, and VIP Chamber businesses, receiving firsthand information on upcoming events and engagement opportunities.  Additionally, participants will have access to a range of resources, including a special listing on the Chamber website and educational materials to support their business growth.  Another valuable component of this program will be the relationships built among businesses to learn from experiences and share best practices, continuing for years to come.  The program completers’ will be recognized in December 2023.

The SBP is open to new and existing small business owners (under ten employees) in Laurens County who are committed to growing their businesses and contributing to the local economy. The program is limited to a select number of participants (twenty-five) to ensure individualized attention and support.

Applications for the Small Business emPOWERment Program are now being accepted, and the deadline to apply is Friday, March 10th, at 5:00 PM. For more information on the program and to apply, please visit the LCCC website, www.laurenscounty.org/programs/sbp.
