Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) in collaboration with German International Cooperation, GIZ SEDIN is set to create about ten emerging technology solutions, towards promoting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and e-commerce value-chain for Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMSEs).
This indication came to fore at the Hackaton annual event tagged: “Ogun HACK 3.0’’ organised by the Bureau at Ogun Tech hub, Kobape, Abeokuta.
Speaking at the programme, the Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT, Mr. Dayo Abiodun said Hackaton is a competitive programme, where a group of tech experts come together to brainstorm and create functioning applications or websites, to promote effective digital economy among SMSEs in the State and would run for 12 weeks.
Mr. Abiodun, represented by the Director, Standard Regulations, Planning and Research, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte stated that lots of milestones would be achieved through the event, such as the creation of Electronic Medical Records, Automated Loan Repayment, Online Stores, and Agricultural Land Acquisition applications, among others, that would cut across health, cooperative society, industrial and agricultural sectors, adding that it would reduce the cost of advertisement on local products and services.
The Governor’s Aide noted that the Bureau had earlier organised a tech solutions convergence for some selected SMSEs to impact on the sectors of the economy that needed such, to promote their images and revenue.
He urged the participants to be more focused, as the government and its partners had invested hugely in the programme, saying employment opportunities, as well as other financial benefits would be available for the participants and other SMSEs.
Two of the participants, Mr. Lekan Ogunlesi and Mrs. Mutiat Ayepe appreciated the organisers for exposing them to the opportunities embedded in the event, promising that they would make judicious use of the programme.
