Sacramento may be the best place to begin your career search

Sacramento was ranked #38 in the nation as the best place to start a career (#1 in California) through a national survey*! Some of the contributing factors included the availability of entry-level jobs, workforce diversity, and the share of millennial newcomers. As a leader in workforce development with many programs supporting career development for young professionals such as MetroEDGE, BoardLink, and Emerge Summit, we are excited to see these factors considered.

Supporting young professionals

Through this study, Sacramento surpassed popular cities like Nashville, Portland, and San Francisco. Also outranked was Dallas, TX, the host of our 2012 Study Mission, which provided us with key insights about workforce development. The Dallas young professionals conference was the inspiration for launching our very own Emerge Summit. Celebrating its 10th anniversary on September 21st, Emerge Summit is now the largest young professional conference on the West Coast featuring speakers and sessions focused on topics of interest specific to young professionals many of whom are just starting their careers.

Emerge has provided young professionals with unparalleled support for their career journey through its 10-year legacy. Ticket sales for their year’s Emerge Summit Young Professional Conference will go live on June 26th at EmergeYPSummit.com. Until then, you can support our region’s young professionals and their career journey by sponsoring the event or planning to send a young professional within your organization.

Continue the momentum with Study Mission

Emerge Summit is just one amazing example of Study Mission’s impact on the region. As Sacramento continues learning from other great cities, this year’s Study Mission, happening September 13 – September 16, will be to Toronto. Toronto has been identified as one of the best cities in the world for college students through a global survey**. Survey methodology focused on Toronto’s inclusivity, diversity, and employment for young professionals. Like Dallas, Study Mission Toronto will also provide key insights for workforce development for the Greater Sacramento region. Regional leaders are able to gain deeper understandings that propel our community forward and promote positive change like the creation of programs like Emerge Summit.

If you’d like to take part in reimagining the future of our region, be sure to attend this year’s Study Mission to Toronto. You can register online at . Together, we can continue making the Sacramento region the ‘Best Place’ for all.
