TOMODACHI MUFG Sustainable Entrepreneurship Program 2024 Applications commence on Monday, April 15 The TOMODACHI Initiative, a public-private partnership led by a public interest corporation, U.S.-Japan Council (Japan) (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Audrey Yamamoto) and the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, will commence the TOMODACHI MUFG Sustainable Entrepreneurship Program 2024, on Saturday June 1, 2024 with support from the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc.(Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Member of the Board of Directors, President & Group CEO: Hironori Kamezawa). In order to start this program, we will be calling for participation from high school students throughout Japan from Monday, April 15, 2024. TOMODACHI MUFG Sustainable Entrepreneurship Program is an entrepreneurship program for high school students across Japan that fosters a passion to change the world for the benefit of people and the planet. In today’s society, where there are many uncertainties such as the pandemic caused by COVID-19, this program aims to foster “Sustainable Entrepreneurship” that simultaneously pursues social, environmental, ecological, and economic values in addition to developing the resilience to confront unanswered challenges and persevere in tackling them even when they fail. After the application period in April, the participants will form teams for three months from June to August and work together to identify issues in today’s society, then they will find solutions as a team from the perspective of well-being. Specifically, during the program, participants will learn to design innovative social systems that transcend the boundaries of their predecessors’ ideas, the ability to face challenges and continue to take new steps over and over again. In June, the program will hold pre-seminars and in July, participants will visit Silicon Valley and San Francisco, the center of startups, for workshops, as well as Stanford University for interchange activities. This program aims to develop leaders who will “open the door to the future” in both Japan and the United States in terms of the belief that entrepreneurship and leadership are not innate abilities, but rather capabilities that anyone can nurture and demonstrate.
