**Responsibilities**

The **American Heart Association** has an excellent opportunity for a **Marketing Communications Manager – Temporary** for our National Hypertension Control Initiative. **Location is flexible.**

***This is a benefits eligible, grant funded position with current funding through approx. 12/22/2023***

The Communications Manager devises, plans and implements marketing and communications strategies for assigned focus area(s). Plans may include press and promotional event planning and execution, development of public service campaigns, social media strategy, opinion/editorial content, webinars, live broadcasts, and other large and smale scale communications tactics.

**Essential Job Duties:**

+ Devises, plans and implements marketing and communications strategies for assigned focus area(s). Plans may include press and promotional event planning and execution, development of public service campaigns, social media strategy, opinion/editorial content other communications tactics.

+ Acts as primary point of contact for national news media organizations; includes researching, building and cultivating relationships with key news media representatives, reporters, or agency contacts to promote assigned initiative(s)

+ Writes news releases, boilerplates and template materials, news media advisories, letters-to-the-editor, blog posts, webinar and event scripts, key messages, social media posts, fact sheets and other appropriate promotional content to reach targeted audiences nationally and in assigned regions and market segments.

+ Collaborates with digital and social media team to create and execute comprehensive social media strategy including messages, shared media sites, web pages, and related public web channels. Manages web content and editing for assigned focus area.

+ Identifies, trains, and engages national spokespersons for specialized messaging for earned and owned media opportunities.

+ Cultivate project stakeholders to obtain story and content as needed

+ Identify and engage national and local partners and influencers to elevate and amplify campaign messaging.

+ Identify and manage contractors and agency partners as required to assist with the development and execution of marketing communications plans (translation, public relations, advertising, promotions) to targeted audiences and markets.

+ Ongoing collaboration and liaison with internal and external partners on projects to execute marketing and communications tactics.

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

+ Three (3) years of experience in earned media relations experience, writing news releases, developing owned media content, or other similar marketing communications activities

+ Three (3) years of experience developing and implementing focused marketing or communications campaigns

+ Project and budget management experience, including the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once

+ Proven experience working in a cross functional team

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Demonstrated success and experience developing targeted, culturally appropriate marketing communications plans designed to reach Hispanic and African American, Native American and/or Alaskan Native audiences and markets.

+ Prior experience in matrix organization

+ Read, write and speak Spanish fluently

+ Digital content management experience
