For many people, artificial intelligence applications seemed to arrive out of nowhere. Suddenly anyone with an internet connection could generate entire essays or imagery in any style seemingly out of thin air. But as challenging as it is to comprehend how these tools work, a more pressing matter is understanding what the implications are—especially for educators. With the help of grant funding and participation from partner organizations, MMSA has been able to facilitate a series of free and open panel discussions designed to help educators separate fact from fiction in the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence technology. Topics so far have included: Introduction to AI, covering the buzzwords and basics of the technology AI for Your Students, diving into the applications for the classroom AI as a Teaching Tool, exploring ways curriculum can be developed using AI A final installment, AI and Ethics for Educators, is slated to run on March 25. More information about the sessions, including video recordings from past sessions, are available on the event website.
