Xbox head Phil Spencer’s vision: embracing PS5 and Nintendo Switch as part of the Xbox community

Spencer emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the gaming community, highlighting the shared passion for gaming that transcends platform boundaries. With the recent acquisition, he expressed a desire to bring top-tier gaming experiences to a broader audience, underscoring Xbox’s commitment to fostering a more interconnected and diverse gaming ecosystem. The integration of renowned titles like Call of Duty and Overwatch into the Xbox repertoire marks a significant expansion of the platform’s gaming catalog. Spencer’s approach appears to prioritize accessibility and community engagement, signaling a strategic shift toward building bridges across gaming platforms rather than erecting exclusive boundaries.

While the specifics of this integration are yet to unfold fully, the overarching message from Spencer hints at a promising era of interconnectivity and shared gaming experiences for all enthusiasts, regardless of their preferred gaming device.

I was telling someone recently that it’s sad that about the end of the GC era, they stopped releasing games across the board for all systems.
Granted, things needed to be scaled and it would take more man hours to put out games for a system from Nintendo that wouldn’t look as good as on PS or XB, but there is still a HUGE fan base for games to expand across the board.
My first foray into FPS was on COD BlOps for the WiiU. I thought the game ran super great, graphics were legit and while there was a lag here or there, it was absolutely worth the purchase.
Hope they do that again soon. We don’t even need cross play for Nintendo and the other systems, just don’t forget us Nintendo Fans in the gaming mix

I’m having a hard time understanding this… If they want to release games on all platforms then Xbox is useless, you might as well become a simple publisher. On the other hand, if it’s just creating a common ecosystem between the 3 manufacturers, do you really believe that Sony and Nintendo will accept Mr. Spencer?…

As much as I champion XBOX, I don’t want to see them push Gamepass onto everyone. Which honestly seems like they’re going to do soon enough. I understand that they said they wouldn’t take away COD from Sony and they would like to put COD on Nintendo consoles, but I feel like the caveat would be, requiring to install Gamepass in those machine to have access to it. our game aren’t exclusively to consoles, just subscriptions.

Microsoft is banking their entire gaming strategy on game pass for whatever reason. They said they may depart from the gaming industry altogether if it doesn’t get enough subscribers in a few years.

From what we’ve seen recently, Mr. Spencer’s vision of “embracing the PS5 and Switch as part of the Xbox community” is something he plans to do through buying them out and forcing them into it.
Not forgotten those email leaks of his that showed he still has intentions of buying Nintendo, despite being laughed out of the room the last time it was attempted.

Good luck with that, Phil. If somehow the planets align and Nintendo and Sony say yes to such a prospect, countries would ban their products because they would be a monopoly. The UK was already trying to block Microsoft from their current acquisitions when it doesn’t even make them a monopoly yet.

I think in the near future there will no such thing as a preferred gaming device, but more of preferred game developer.
Consoles will no longer sit on the shelf under the tv, instead it will all run off an app on your tv/device.
You’ll be able to play whatever games you purchase on the gaming app, just need the controllers or handheld gaming screen

Sounds like a dystopia, honestly. Without physical games you can say goodbye to sharing with friends and playing games legitimately if they’re removed from the app one reason or another. I’m giving Back to The Future The Game a try, and only reason why I’m able to is because of third party sellers.

Well, Mr Spencer does indeed loves Nintendo and their games and he mentioned once that he want to see Mario games being part of Xbox console even so Mario is a Nintendo exclusive IP. Its not like Mr Spencer is going to force them on doing this type of predicament in the Xbox community.

How about making Xbox a compelling experience beyond just a simplified PC with less games.

If I didn’t know better, I would say Microsoft finally grew brain and is throwing in the towel. If Microsoft lost the first party race 5-6 years ago, I probably would have forgiven them for letting Sakurai waste character slots on Banjo Kazooie and Minecraft Steve instead of characters people actually want. Probalby.
