Concept Guides

Each IA is viewed through ONE key concept. Explore all four, then choose the one that fits your organization and issue.

Change

How an organization responds to, or deliberately drives, changes in its internal or external environment, such as new competitors, technology, laws, customer behavior, restructuring, or a crisis.

Guiding Questions

  • •What changed, and why now?
  • •Who is affected, and how do they react?
  • •How well did (or should) the organization respond, and what are the short-term and long-term effects?

How to Integrate It

Show the change clearly, then analyze the organization's RESPONSE and its consequences. Use tools to examine the forces around the change, and keep returning to the idea of change when you interpret your evidence.

Common Traps

Telling the history of the company without analysis; treating change as only growth; ignoring resistance and stakeholders.

Reflection Question

Which change in the organization's environment is forcing a decision, and what would the organization lose by not changing?

Your IA must be your own work. IA Studio helps you plan, check, and organize, but it never writes any part of your IA. Always follow the IB Business Management Guide and your school's academic integrity rules, including rules about AI tools. If you are unsure, ask Mr. Coleman.
This is a study aid, not the official IB guide. Check the IB Business Management Guide for the official criteria, level descriptors, and rules, including what counts toward the word count.
